Rolling Stone vs. The Monkees

Hello again Bloggers,

So, I don't get what the hell is wrong with
Jann Wenner. I mean, was he dissed by the Monkees as a kid? Was he a fan and he couldn't get backstage, did someone rape him wile listening to a Monkees record? Why in god's name would you have so much hatred towards a band who have obviously done nothing to you? Alright, now, someone can step in here, and say, "Well, A-Real, you don't like so-and-so." and that's true, but I don't deny them their props. The Jonas Brothers? Not my favourite group, but they're pretty talented among the tens of thousands of tweens who love them.
I think that Jann Wenner should be kicked off of the commitee or whatever that chooses who gets to be in the rock and roll hall of fame. I hear the Monkees aren't the only ones he's done this too, but lets take a moment to see what the Monkees did to deserve to be in the Rock and roll Hall of Fame, not that I should see why they should want to, I think I agree with the Sex Pistols, but, let's just look and see what the Monkees did in their time.

  • Had the top-charting American single of 1967 ("I'm a Believer"). (Billboard No 1 for 7 Weeks) with "Daydream Believer" tied for third.
  • First band to use a Moog Synthesizer in a top-10 album (used on "Star Collector", "Daily Nightly" and "Love Is Only Sleeping" from Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn & Jones Ltd., released in November of 1967).
  • Gave the Jimi Hendrix Experience their first US concert appearances. It should be noted that Hendrix's heavy psychedelic guitar and sexual overtones did not go overly well with the teenage girl audience.
  • Compelled another David Jones to change his surname to Bowie to avoid being confused with Davy Jones of the Monkees.
  • The Monkees reunion tour was the largest grossing tour of 1986.
  • Introduced Tim Buckley to a national audience, via his appearance in the series finale, "The Frodis Caper."
  • The Monkees outsold the Beatles and the Rolling Stones combined in 1967.
  • Last music artist to win the MTV Friday Night Video Fights by defeating Bon Jovi 51% to 49%.
  • First music artist to win two Emmy awards.
  • First actual live concert footage to be featured in a motion picture (Head, 1968).
  • Had 7 albums on the Billboard top 200 chart at the same time (6 were re-issues during 1986/87).
  • The Monkees are one of only eight artists achieving number-one hits in the United States and United Kingdom simultaneously
  • More of The Monkees spent an amazing 70 weeks on the Billboard charts becoming the 12th biggest selling album of all time (Billboard.com).
  • Four number one albums in a year span. The only act to have their first four albums go to number 1 on the Billboard charts.
  • Held the number one spot on the Billboard album chart for 31 consecutive weeks.
  • Held the record for the longest stay at number one for a debut record until 1982 when Men At Work's debut record Business As Usual broke that record.
Yeah, I coppied that from Wikipedia, but, who cares? It's all true!
Jann Wenner, you had better watch out sweethert, because someday, when I'm in the music buisness, you won't be the only one calling the shots, and when I'm up there, there may be a museum bigger then The Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. And it'll be in LA, and you know what darling? We won't discriminate because we have a personal grudge against the groups. It's all about the rock and roll, and trust me sweetheart, you are neither Rock and roll, nor Kosher, and you've obviously got no class. A real person would put aside whatever bitchy attitude they might have over a group, and stop ignoring the petitions you get sent every day, I know I've signed countless petitions about the Monkees getting into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Jann Wenner, the war is on, and I do not give up without a fight.

I hope he reads that. I want to know how many gold albums he's sold, or how many thousands of screaming fans he's performed in front of. How dare he decide he's the one who calls the shots on who's who in music.
Even Rodney Bingenheimer plays the Monkees every now and then on his show, and I think he's Kosher. And he is the who's who of music.

Keep you eyes out for Record Collector News, interview of Rodney Bingenheimer by your's truly!
Next article I write will be about Jann Wenner. *smirk*

Charles Manson vs. The Monkees

Hello Bloggers,

You know its funny in Hollywood, there are tons of rumors that go flying around, and one of my favourites is the one about Charlie Manson auditioning for the Monkees- Some of them go even farther, some say he Got In!!!! I'm So Sure! Okay, so there's this show on TV Land (Not the Monkees, which I think it totally lame, It's all about showing old shows, right?), and its like something where they talk abour rumors and legends, and that one was brought up, and Davy Jones even said it was possible. Which I think is funny because Davy didn't even go to the open casting call! He was on contract with the studio already.
Everyone has that perticular murder case they know about, from Jonestown, to the Nightstalker. Mine happens to be the Manson family murders, and I think its funny that people keep talking about it like its a possibility. Not only was Charles in Jail at the time- Yeah, that's right. He was in prison. He got OUT of prison March 21, 1967. The Monkees first episode aired September 12, 1966. So, I hope that clears up some of those silly rumors about Charlie, the Monkees, and that silly rumor.
Me and Micky Dolenz Me with Micky Dolenz. First Monkee I met. =) I'm always looking out to meet the others, but I feel like I'm getting close to meeting Davy. hahahaa, guys, if you're reading this, can I please get an interview with you for my radio show? Plllease?
Another Monkee related post coming up soon. Rolling Stone vs. The Monkees.

Greeting Bloggers,

I love that saying. Rodney Bingenheimer used it when I was interviewing him.
Things are pretty boring today, I was up until four in the morning (Thank you insomnia) and I got up at twelve today, need those eight hours huh? =D I'm working on my history homework, and all I can think about is Eddie Izzard talking about empires. Damn him. =D I love him though, he's so funny. My friend Jackie and I will quote him all the time. The Ottoman empire... Full of furniture.

I've been putting down ideas for my script, I've been writing a script about a record store, with some moments that have happened to me at the store, and customers who have come in, and a lot of stuff that doesn't have anything to do with anything that's happened to me. =) I think it'll be good.

Buuut, apart from that, nothing much is going on. I'm thinking about- after getting caught up in school- making my own website. That should be fun.

I'll write more later.

I haven't posted inforever, and for that I am sorry dear bloggers. =) Well, let's see, I've finally turned seventeen, and things are as crazy as ever. I am (still) fucking up in school (wooptie do what else is new?) and I got a car. I interviewed Rodney Bingenheimer for Record Collector News, so keep your eyes peeled, whic is actually a pretty nast saying if you think about it... ha, well, anyways. I've been looking for an apartment in Hollywood for three, and I'm mostly trying to get through high school, and trying to get my book finished. I'm also going to try to post on here at LEAST once a week, but right now I'm falling asleep at my keyboard, while listening to Rodney on the Roq. Hope you guys manage to catch CMT on the 24th of this month. Micky Dolenz will be on some county show or something. Like the real world for musicians who want to be country, which in actuality is kind of depressing. But, hey, so long as he isn't one of those annoying country stars who is... Annoying, then, I'm cool with watching it. So long as he's rock too. lol. Well, I'm still gonna try to get him on my show eventually. I need to work on that. Ah well, get my schoolwork done by the 30th, and then I'll worry about Micky Dolenz. =) I'll post some more, possibly tomorrow, whis is going to be today, but not for like another ten hours or something. =D Good night/morning everyone!
